The set of six urban plinths were an installation into a shared space road environment in the forecourt of the Bendigo Town Hall. Designed to be solid and visible to vehicles, they also function as casual seating for pedestrians. The use of bluestone and local granite is a reflection of the urban paving palette.
Evocative images were developed for each individual plinth by photographer Julie Millowick using the adjacent Town Hall building, historic maps and indigenous flora as references.
The images were sandwiched into laminated glass shards that provide interpretation of the unique location.
The design for the Urban Plinths was completed by Justine Image as an employee of the City of Greater Bendigo.
