The retired servicemen from Kangaroo Flat RSL group requested assistance in improving their memorial site. Specifically, they wished to  improve the functioning of the site on rememberence day gatherings, and make accessibility across the site easier for the older members. They also wished to recognise additional service groups, and to reduce damage and litter from public access of the open site.

The layout of the paths was a response to the octagonal shaped memorial plinth. DDA compliant seating provided points to rest and observe the memorial. Custom stone bases were installed to mount future plaques. The landscaping was redesigned to provide a simple and dramatic backdrop to the memorial itself.

Continuous consultation from initial concept to construction ensured that the finished project reflected their needs. While not a high budget project, this was a lesson in listening to, interpreting the needs of, and proving technical assistance to a community group.
