You Are Here:Blackwood Special School Master Plan

A ten year master plan was needed to consolidate ideas and plan for the expansion and further development of the school in a way to suppoorted educational programs and celebrated the unique location.

The master plan details the intrinsic value of the natural setting within the Wombat State Forest environs, and how that natural setting can directly and indirectly support the goals and aspirations of the Blackwood Special School in delivering Curriculum goals and enhancing their students’ life skills.

The forest surrounding Blackwood provides a unique experience for students. The sloping landscape with it’s canopy of tall trees provide an array of sensory experiences including scented leaves, the sound of bird song and the feel of natural textures. The quality and presentation of this physical environment can enhance educational outcomes by providing direct links to the Curriculum, mitigating stress and creating an appreciation for the natural environment.
