The development of a play space was one of a variety of projects to support urban renewal of this suburb.
Taking cues from the surrounding canopy of mature Iron Bark trees, the play equipment was timber-framed with a muted palette of steel components. Nestled in native grasses and local sandstone boulders an oversize lizard was designed and built by artist Ben Winspear.
In an area known for anti-social behaviour, the play space has helped to make the recreation reserve a local gathering place.
Client: City of Greater Bendigo

The design for the California Gully Playspace was completed by Justine Image as an employee of the City of Greater Bendigo.
